MONTGOMERY, Ala. | After six matches on the road to open the 2023 season, Alabama State plays the first of its six home matches on the schedule on Tuesday night when it hosts North Alabama.
 
The match is scheduled for 6 p.m. inside Lockhart Gymnasium.
 
A'Nylah Cobb has led Alabama State through the first six matches of the season, which includes three matches against teams from Power 5 conferences, with 37 kills and averaging 1.95 kills per set. She is followed closely by Jylen Whitten with 33 kills, Christyn Ashby with 28, and Jada Rhodes with 27.
 
Madison Beasley leads the Lady Hornets with 84 assists, averaging 4.20 assists per set, while Emily Brooks has recorded 69 assists. Meanwhile, Temperance Chatman has recorded 70 digs and Taila Gaines has recorded a team-high 17 blocks.

Alabama State Notes

• Beasley became just the seventh player in school history to record 1,500 career assists after she recorded 41 assists over the weekend at the UCF Challenge.
• Chatman has recorded 455 digs through her first 37 matches at Alabama State.
• Alabama State is one win shy of 700 in program history, entering the match on Tuesday night.
• The Lady Hornets will be playing the first of six home matches this season, and do not return home until October 20 against Florida A&M. They will play in a pair of tournaments at UNC-Wilmington and Arizona before conference play opens between home matches.
• The Lady Hornets have faced a pair of schools new to the Big 12 this season in UCF and Cincinnati, and have also faced Wake Forest from the ACC in three of their first six matches.

North Alabama Notes

• The Lions have dropped their last three matches after winning against Louisiana Tech and Little Rock to start the season.
• North Alabama (2-3) will play its sixth consecutive road match on Tuesday and will stay on the road for three more following the match.
• Brenna Tietz leads the Lions with 52 kills, while Avery Markham has added 49 and Anna Katherine Griggs 48.
• Elif Ozsoy leads the team with 113 assists, while Kennedey Johnson has added 102. 

The Series
North Alabama leads the all-time series with Alabama State 1-0 with the two teams meeting in 2022. The Lions won the match 3-0 back on Sept. 7, 2022, in Florence (Ala.).
