MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State University Head Coach Jose Vazquez announced the fall baseball schedule as the Hornets began preparation for the 2024 season. 
 
The Hornets will work in groups from Sept. 5 through Wednesday, Sept. 27, before team workouts begin on Sept. 28th. Practice times are 3 p.m. each day during fall practice. 
 
Alabama State will host its annual scout day at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 26th at the Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex. 
 
Intra-squad scrimmages are Saturday, Sept. 30 and Sunday, Oct. 1 at a times do be determined. 
 
The Hornets will play two contests against outside competition, hosting Pensacola State College at 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 20 at 4 p.m. and Southern Union Community College on Friday, Oct. 27 at 4 p.m.
 
Fall practices conclude on November 10. 
 
The Hornets return a good nucleus of position players that include, Randy Flores (2B), Kyler McIntosh (SS/P), Ali Lapread (OF), Cristian Lopez (3B), Jack Hay (OF/IF), Jamal George (C/IF) and Devin Chandler (IF). 
 
Alabama State returns some experience on the mound as well with Shadi Colon (LHP), Luis Rodriguez (RHP), Jorhan Laboy (LHP), and Sebastian Colon (RHP), McIntosh (RHP), and Austin King (RHP).
 
Alabama State is coming off the best season in school history, winning 41 games and capturing the SWAC East Division title. The Hornets became just the fifth school in SWAC history and the first ASU Team to win 40 plus games in a season.
