MOBILE, Ala. | Isaiah Range was the lone player in double figures for Alabama State, leading the Hornets to a 72-55 victory over Alabama A&M in the third annual Bridge Builders Classic at the Mitchell Center on Monday night in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play.

Range finished the night with 20 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the floor including six three-pointers. He also recorded a steal in the Alabama State (9-9, 4-1 SWAC) win.
Amarr Knox finished with nine, while
Eric Coleman and
TJ Madlock each finished with eight points in the win.

Micah Octave grabbed a team-high seven rebounds and
CJ Hines dished out four assists.

Dailin Smith led Alabama A&M with 19 points.

How It Happened
- Alabama State scored 31 of its 72 points off the bench including 17 combined from Knox and Coleman.
- The Hornets assisted on 11 of 23 baskets on the night, including nine three-pointers. They also turned the ball over just eight times and recorded 11 steals against Alabama A&M, while forcing the Bulldogs into 21 turnovers.
- Alabama State finished the night shooting 38.3 (23-of-60) percent from the floor and 47.4 (9-of-19) percent from beyond the arc. They also shot 81.0 (17-of-21) percent from the free throw line.
- Alabama A&M (3-15, 2-3 SWAC) finished the night shooting 40.0 (18-of-45) percent from the floor and 21.4 (3-of-14) percent from beyond the arc. They also shot 60.0 (6-of-10) percent from the free throw line.
Alabama State Notes
- Octave recorded a steal in his 18th consecutive game to start his college career and has recorded 27 on the season.
- Range was the lone player in double figures for Alabama State, just the second time this season the Hornets with both ending in wins.
- Coleman (8-of-8) and Madlock (4-of-4) each finished perfect from the free throw line, combining to hit 12 of 17 from the charity stripe.
- The Hornets have started the season 4-1 in conference play, matching their best start since the 2018-19 season when they started 6-1.
