HOW IT HAPPENED
Alabama State struggled out of the gate, falling behind 33-11 at the end of the first quarter.
The Hornets fought back in the second period, narrowing the deficit to 45-24 by the time halftime rolled around.
Alabama State's deficit continued to grow after halftime, and the Hornets faced a 69-41 disadvantage heading to the fourth quarter. Alabama State's bench made the most of its minutes in the period, as non-starters totaled six of the team's 17 third-quarter points.
UAPB kept widening its lead in the fourth, constructing an 81-45 advantage before Alabama State went on a 5-0 run, finished off by Whitney Dunn's jumper, to shrink the deficit to 81-50 with 2:32 to go in the contest. UAPB responded and outscored the Hornets the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 85-52. Alabama State took advantage of its opportunities in the post, scoring six of its 11 points in the paint.
