Alabama State secures 5-1 win over Mississippi Valley on Senior Night

MONTGOMERY, Ala. Alabama State got a pair of goals from Erica Mathews in a 5-1 win over Mississippi Valley Friday at the ASU Soccer Complex.

The win improved Alabama St.'s record to 4-5-2 overall.

How it Happened

ASU broke the scoreless tie when Rachel Mull scored her seventh goal of the season in the 11th minute, assisted by Madison Chambers.

The Lady Hornets tacked on another score on a goal from Zeta Chevalier -- her second goal of the season -- in the 16th minute, assisted by Mull.

MVSU closed the gap to 2-1 on Liana Bryant's 55th-minute goal.

The Lady Hornets went ahead 3-1 with a 74th-minute goal from Mathews, her second goal of the season. Mull assisted the goal.

ASU increased its lead to make it a 4-1 game on Mathews' second goal of the season in the 76th minute, assisted by Chevalier.

The Lady Hornets increased their lead to 5-1 thanks to an 85th-minute goal from Ariana James, her second goal of the season. The score was the last of the game.
