Alabama State to welcome back 2004 SWAC Championship Team

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Alabama State University Department of Athletics is excited to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the 2004 Southwestern Athletic Conference Championship Football Team and reunion festivities from November 22-24, which will include an on-field recognition on November 23 versus Prairie View A&M.

"We are proud to welcome home our 2004 SWAC Championship football team and recognize their contributions to Alabama State University," ASU Vice President and Director of Athletics Dr. Jason Cable said. "We hope they enjoy sharing the memories of their accomplishments and catching up with one another. This is a special weekend for our football program, and everyone associated with Alabama State Athletics."

Led by second-year head coach Charles Coe, the Hornets compiled an overall record of 10–2 and 6–1 in conference play, finished as SWAC East Division champion, and defeated Southern 40-35 in the SWAC Championship Game at Legion Field in Birmingham.

The Hornets finished the 2004 season ranked No. 20 in The Sports Network Top 25 Poll.
