Alabama State Sweeps Mississippi Valley State

ITTA BENA, Miss. --The Alabama State volleyball team recorded a .425 attack percentage on the way to a 3-0 win (25-14, 25-13, 25-12) over the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devilettes Sunday on the road at Harrison HPER Complex.

The conference victory improved Alabama State's record to 9-18 overall and 6-8 in SWAC play.

Kaylen Hines finished with eight kills on the day to lead the Lady Hornets offense while finishing with a hitting percentage of .615. Taylor Williams also pitched in with five in the contest and received nine digs from Breanna Swanson to lead them defensively.

SET 1 | The Lady Hornets took control of the set-one lead at 3-2 and held the lead the rest of the way to win 25-14. ASU opened up its biggest lead, 11 points, to close out the set. ASU also supplemented their offense with four aces in the opening set. got a solid defensive performance from a front row that blocked four Mississippi Valley State attacks in the stanza.

SET 2 | ASU continued to roll after a set-one win by earning a 25-13 victory in the second set. The Lady Hornets grabbed control of the set lead early on at 4-3 and never looked back. ASU opened its biggest lead of the stanza, 12 points, to close out the set. The ASU offense also got a boost from three aces in the stanza. The Lady Hornet's front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking four MVSU attacks in the stanza.

SET 3 | ASU finished off the match in a 3-0 sweep after winning set three. The Lady Hornets took a 1-0 lead and never looked back in the set to earn a 25-12 victory. ASU ended on a high note, claiming its biggest lead, 13 points, to finish off the set. The Lady Hornets' offense also got a boost from five aces in the stanza.
