Alabama State Falls To Valpo in Game Two

MONTGOMERY, Ala. --The Alabama State Hornets took a 1-0 lead into the eighth inning, but could not hang on and fell 8-1 to the Valparaiso Beacons at the Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex on Saturday.

Senior Luis Rodriguez (0-1) took the loss on the mound for Alabama State (1-2). Sophomore Devin Brooks started the ballgame and went seven innings, surrendering one run on three hits, walking two and striking out eight.

In the batter's box, the Hornets were paced by senior Cristian Lopez, who went 2-for-4 on the day with a double and an RBI. Senior Ali LaPread put together a standout performance as well, going 1-for-4 with a double.
