Alabama State Drops Doubleheader To Jackson State

MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State baseball dropped a doublheader to Jackson State University by the scores fo 14-10 and 4-2 on Saturday at the Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex.

Senior Luis Rodriguez (1-3) got the ball to start for Alabama State (8-9, ) and took the loss. The right-hander went six innings, giving up three runs, all of them earned, on four hits, allowing four walks and striking out six. Freshman Jafet Martinez was a bright spot for the Hornets, coming out of the bullpen and throwing three innings, giving up one run on three hits.

LaPread led the way offensively for the Hornets, going 1-for-4 in the ballgame with a home run and an RBI. Junior Kyler McIntosh compiled a standout day at the plate as well, going 1-for-2 with a double and two walks. Senior Cristian Lopez also chipped in, going 1-for-3 for Alabama State with an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED | GM 1 

The Hornets lost despite scoring in seven different innings in the ballgame, last holding the lead in the second inning at 1-0. Alabama State's biggest output came in its three-run third inning. The Hornets highlighted their three-run inning with a run-scoring double from senior Randy Flores.
