MONTGOMERY, Ala. | The regular season comes to an end this weekend with Alabama State hosting a pair of games beginning Thursday night at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome.
 
Alabama State (12-17, 7-9 SWAC) hosts Southern on Thursday night before hosting the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) champion Grambling State on Saturday afternoon. A win in either game by the Hornets and losses by Alabama A&M and UAPB (both games) would lock the teams in a three-way tie for the seventh and eighth spots.

Alabama State and Southern (17-12, 11-6 SWAC) met in Baton Rouge (La.) on Feb. 12 with the Jaguars winning 73-62. The Hornets and Grambling State (16-13, 13-3 SWAC) met on Feb. 10 with Grambling State winning 74-68.
 
TJ Madlock leads the Hornets in scoring at 15.7 points per game and is in the top 10 in the conference in scoring and steals, while CJ Hines is averaging 10.0 points per game for the Hornets. Isaiah Range is at 9.0 points per game, while Ubong Okon is averaging 6.3 rebounds per game to lead the team.
 
Alabama State Notes

• Alabama State has dropped three consecutive games in conference play, matching its longest streak of the conference season, and has dropped six of its last seven.
• The Hornets need at least one win, coupled with losses by Alabama A&M and UAPB to earn a spot in the conference tournament. A pair of wins by the Hornets and a loss by the two aforementioned will also put the teams into a three-way tie.
• Madlock has scored in double figures 25 times this season while Hines has recorded 17 games, Range 12, and Amarr Knox 10 games in double figures.
• Four players have recorded 50 or more fouls drawn this year led by Madlock at 134. The next closest is Okon with 56, Hines at 55, and Knox at 52. The junior leads the team averaging 4.6 fouls drawn per game.
• The Hornets are eighth in offensive rebounds per game (14.17), ninth in the country in fast break points (15.52), 22nd in rebounds per game (39.79), 24th in steals per game (8.7), 25th in turnover margin (3.2), 34th in turnovers forced per game (14.59), 41st in field goal percentage defense (41.1), 55th in bench points (24.97), and 70th in three-point attempts per game (24.4).
• Eric Coleman has missed the last eight games, not playing since Bethune-Cookman on Feb. 3, and the Hornets are 2-6 in his absence.
• Head coach Tony Madlock, assistant coach Mardracus Wade, and Director of Player of Development Damien Madison lead the half-court shot competition with three each through 29 games. Assistant coach Tyrone Levett has added two, while Isaiah Range and Eric Coleman lead the players with two each.
