Hay collects 4 hits in Alabama State's loss to Florida A&M

MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Senior Jack Hay racked up four hits, but the Alabama State fell to Florida A&M 12-3 on Sunday at the Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex.

Freshman Jafet Martinez (2-3) took the loss on the mound for Alabama State (26-24, ). The right-hander went 5.2 innings, giving up three runs, two earned, on five hits, allowing one walk and striking out two. Sophomore Devin Brooks was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going one shutout inning while allowing one hit, walking none and striking out one.

In addition to his four hits, Hay had two doubles to lead the Hornets. Junior Kyler McIntosh put together a noteworthy day at the plate as well, going 2-for-3 with a walk and two RBI. Senior Cristian Lopez also helped out for Alabama State, putting together two hits in four trips to the plate while adding an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Trailing 3-0, the Hornets first put runs on the board in the third inning. Alabama State scored twice, with one run coming across on Lopez's single.

The Hornets kept the deficit at 3-2 before tying the score in the fourth. Alabama State scored once on an RBI single off the bat of McIntosh, which evened the score at 3-3. Florida A&M then scored nine times over the remaining five innings to break the tie and grab the 12-3 win.
