Lady Hornets Earn Sweep Over Nicholls

MONTGOMERY, Ala. --The Alabama State volleyball team got the job done in three sets (25-23, 25-17, 25-15) to take down the Nicholls Lady Colonels Saturday at home at the Acadome.

The non-conference victory improved Alabama State's overall record to 3-0 on the season.

The Lady Hornets were led by a double-double from A'Nylah Cobb, who registered 10 kills and 10 digs on the day. Jyriah Morgan also added 12 kills to help the offense. On the defensive end, Temperance Chatman chipped in with 11 digs to go with three blocks from Morgan.

How It Happened

SET 1 | Impressive serving helped the Lady Hornets take set one 25-23. ASU notched five aces in the set victory. After the lead changed hands two times, the Lady Hornets took control for good at 24-23 and rode that advantage to victory.

SET 2 | ASU carried the momentum from a set-one win by securing a 25-17 victory in the second set. The Lady Hornets grabbed control of the set lead early on at 2-1 and never looked back. ASU led by as many as nine points at 18-9 before closing out the set.

SET 3 | ASU took the third set to finish the match in a 3-0 sweep. The Lady Hornets took the set 25-15 helped by a solid showing on the attacking side. ASU put together a .345 attack percentage with 13 kills in the set win. The Lady Hornets opened up a 22-11 lead in the stanza and coasted to victory from there. ASU's front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking seven Nicholls attacks in the stanza.
