MONTGOMERY, Ala. --The Alabama State volleyball team took the first set, but couldn't hang on and dropped a 3-1 decision (25-21, 18-25, 11-25, 19-25) to the Alabama Crimson Tide Friday at the Acadome.
The non-conference loss moved ASU to 3-2 on the season.
Kaylen Hines finished with 13 kills on the day to lead the Lady Hornets' attack while finishing with a hitting percentage of .367. The Lady Horners received 19 digs from Temperance Chatman to lead them defensively.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Lady Hornets opened up an early one set to none lead, winning the first set 25-21. ASU never trailed by more than five points and grabbed the advantage for good at 8-7after erasing a two-point deficit, the Crimson Tide largest lead of the set. This came in a set that featured six ties and six lead changes. got a solid defensive performance from a front row that blocked five Alabama attacks in the stanza and capitalized on 10 Alabama attacking errors on the way to victory.
SET 2 | ASU dropped the second set 25-18 to tie the match 1-1. ASU trailed by as many as seven points as Alabama grabbed the advantage for good at 10-9 in a set that was tied up five times before the Crimson Tide took over the lead.
SET 3 | A set-three loss put ASU behind 2-1. The Lady Hornets fell behind on the first point and never clawed back into the lead before falling in the set 25-11.
SET 4 | ASU lost the fourth set and the match, falling 25-19. The Lady Hornets dropped the set in spite of a strong performance on the attacking side. The Lady Horners registered a .306 attack percentage with 13 kills in the set loss.
