Alabama State Women's Basketball Falls To FAMU To Open Road Swing

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. | The Alabama State women's basketball team placed two players in double figures in an 82-46 to the Florida A&M University at the Al Lawson Center on Thursday.

The Hornets (5-15, 3-5) had two players score in double figures, led by Kaitlyn Bryant, who had 13 points. O'Mariyah Tucker added 10 points and Taylor Smith added three points.

Camariyana Tavares pulled down two offensive rebounds to lead an offense that racked up second chance opportunities for Alabama State, grabbing 11 boards and turning them into eight second chance points.

How It Happened

Alabama State started off strong, putting together a 17-16 lead heading into the second quarter. Alabama State got a great contribution from its bench in the period, as non-starters accounted for five of its 17 total points.

The Hornets could not maintain their lead in the second quarter and entered halftime trailing 38-22.

Alabama State's deficit continued to grow after halftime, and the Hornets faced a 59-34 disadvantage heading to the fourth quarter. Alabama State took advantage of three Florida A&M turnovers in the quarter, scoring five points off of takeaways.

Alabama State could not pull any closer in the fourth, losing by a final of 82-46. Alabama State got a boost from its bench in the period, with non-starters scoring three of its 12 total points.
