VICKSBURG, Miss. – Alabama State fell 6–0 to Alcorn State on Sunday afternoon at Key City Park in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play.
The Lady Braves (3–5–3, 2–1–1 SWAC) exploded for six first-half goals to take full control of the match, while Alabama State was unable to generate a shot on target despite earning five corner kicks.
Alcorn's Iesha Rollins powered the attack with a hat trick, scoring in the 4th, 10th, and 34th minutes. Annick Zouma and Sophia Lopez also found the back of the net, with Lopez adding a second goal later in the half off an assist from Ainara Aldeano.
Goalkeepers Kailyn Roselli and Corrine Brookes split time for the Lady Hornets, with Roselli playing the opening 30 minutes before Brookes took over for the remainder of the contest.
Despite a more settled second half that saw the Lady Hornets limit Alcorn to just one shot, Alabama State couldn't find a breakthrough offensively.
The Hornets are back home next week when they host Prairie View A&M on Friday, Oct. 10 at 6 p.m., followed by a match with Texas Southern on Senior Day at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 12.
