MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Alabama State volleyball dropped a hard-fought four-set match to Bethune-Cookman (25-20, 23-25, 15-25, 20-25) on Sunday afternoon inside Lockhart Gymnasium.
The Hornets won the first set but the visitors came back to win the final three sets to earn the conference win.
Jyriah Morgan paced Alabama State with a team and match-high 16 kills, followed closely by Kaylen Hines with 11 while hitting .455 kills. Zanobia Willis had eight kills and was a presence at the net with a match-best five blocks.. Setter Kamrynn Clay distributed 33 assists on the afternoon, while Taylor Williams led the defense with 18 digs to go along with her seven kills.
Alabama State continues SWAC play next weekend, traveling to face Jackson State on Friday at 6 p.m., followed by a match at Mississippi Valley State on Sunday at noon.
