Two Hornets Garner SWAC Football Weekly Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Alabama State University's Te'Sean Sims and Karl Ligon earned SWAC Defensive Player and Newcomer of the Week, respectively, on Monday, Oct. 6, 2025.

Sims recorded eight tackles, one tackle for loss, a fumble recovery, and a pass breakup in Alabama State's 52-35 win over Bethune-Cookman. His fumble recovery set up an Alabama State touchdown in the second quarter.

Ligon rushed for 59 yards on six carries and two touchdowns against B-CU. His two-yard second quarter scoring run gave ASU a 24-7 lead, and his two-yard third quarter touchdown put ASU up 38-14.
