Volleyball Dominates Alcorn State in Regular Season Finale

Lorman, Miss. - Alabama State closed out its regular-season road slate in emphatic fashion, rolling to a 3–0 sweep (25–14, 25–8, 25–13) over Alcorn State on Sunday afternoon at the Davey L. Whitney Complex. The Hornets controlled every phase of the match, hitting .383 as a team while holding the Braves to a -.036 mark.

Kaylen Hines led a balanced and efficient ASU attack, finishing with a team-high 13 kills while hitting .440 and adding five total blocks. Zanobia Willis added nine kills and had three blocks. Madisynne McQueen delivered a standout all-around performance with seven kills. Setter Kamrynn Clay paced the offense with 33 assists, spreading the ball to all hitters as the Hornets hit over .280 in every set and finished hitting .383.

Defensively, Brooke Adams steadied the back row with 23 digs, helping hold Alcorn to low-efficiency swings throughout the match. ASU also owned the net, finishing with 8.0 total team blocks, including multiple block assists from Hines, Morgan, Jones, and Willis.

Set 1
The Hornets set the tone early, jumping out to a 6–1 lead behind the aggressive serving of Essence Jones, who tallied two aces in the opening run. Alabama State's block took over midway through the set, and back-to-back kills from Hines sealed a 25–14 win.

Set 2
ASU produced one of its most dominant sets of the season, hitting .448 while holding Alcorn to a negative percentage. McQueen and Hines combined for a flurry of kills during a 10–1 run, and Sierra Scanlan added a service ace as the Hornets cruised to a 25–8 victory.

Set 3
Jyriah Morgan sparked the Hornets with two early kills, and ASU never looked back. Clay continued to orchestrate a balanced offense, and Hines put the finishing touch on the sweep with another clean swing to close out the 25–13 set.

With the win, Alabama State improves to 13–15 overall and 12–4 in SWAC play, further solidifying its postseason position. Alcorn State falls to 3–26 and 2–14 in the conference. The Southwestern Athletic Conference will release the SWAC Championship bracket.
