School Record Eleven Hornets Earn All-SWAC Football Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Alabama State University had a school record 11 student-athletes named to the 2025 All-Southwestern Athletic Conference postseason honors on Monday, Dec. 1, 2025.

Alabama State wrapped up a 10-2 season with a 58-21 win over Tuskegee University in the 101st Turkey Day Classic. The 10-win season is the first since 2004.
 
SWAC Player of the Year nominee Andrew Body (QB) leads five first-team selections with Jalen Jones (WR), Cameron Smith (OL), Elijah Baker (OL), and Ta'Shawn Sims (S) joining Body on the first team.
 
Jeremiah Frazier (OL), Jalil Lenore (LB), Keane Lewis (S), Deontre Morris (Hornet), Garrett Wilemon (LS), and Nehemiah Hixon (WR/RS) earned second-team honors.

All-SWAC First Team 
Body completed 113-of-160 passes for 1770 yards with 20 touchdowns and only one interception. He also rushed 71 times for 518 yards (5th SWAC) and four touchdowns before sitting out the final four games with an injury.  Body was named the SWAC's Offensive Player of the Week three times and earned HBCU National Player of the Week two times.  The Corpus Christi, Texas, native led the SWAC in touchdown passes (20) and points responsible for (144) while ranking second in completion percentage (70.5).
 
Smith graded at 95 percent or better in all 12 games with 80 knockdowns, only two pressures, and no sacks allowed. Smith played 651 snaps and had four games with a grade of 97 percent or better. 

Baker played and started in 12 games, grading 92 percent or better nine times with a season-best 96 percent two times. Baker totaled 49 knockdowns while allowing two pressures and only one sack over 598 snaps.
 
Jones caught 51 passes for 1,167 yards and nine touchdowns over 12 starts. Jones became only the fifth receiver in ASU history with 1000 yards receiving in a single season. The Birmingham, Ala., native led the SWAC with touchdown receptions (9), receiving yards (1,167), receiving yards per game (97.3), and yards per reception (22.9).
 
Sims was a Preseason All-SWAC selection to start the season and earned SWAC Defensive Player of the Week once during the season. Sims played in all 12 games, totaling a SWAC-leading five interceptions, 36 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, and one sack. The Chipley, Fla., product posted a season-high eight tackles against Bethune-Cookman and intercepted two passes against Tuskegee.
 
All-SWAC Second Team
Frazier made 12 starts at center for the Hornets, grading at 92 percent or higher in 10 games. He had a season-best grade of 97 percent versus Texas Southern. Frazier played 644 snaps, recording 57 knockdowns while giving up one pressure and no sacks.
 
Lenore played in all 12 games at middle linebacker with nine starts. Lenore registered a team-high 74 tackles, five tackles for loss, and two sacks while earning SWAC Defensive Player of the Week twice. He recorded double-digit tackles two times, including 15 against Jackson State and 10 versus Prairie View.
 
Lewis, who was a Preseason All-SWAC selection, recorded 61 tackles with two interceptions and two fumbles forced from his safety position.  The Miami, Fla., native recorded nine tackles against Texas Southern and eight tackles against Miles College and had interceptions against Alabama A&M and Southern.
 
Morris contributed 52 tackles with three interceptions (3rd SWAC) and seven total passes defended over 12 games. Morris had a season-best 10 tackles against Texas Southern and picked off two passes against Prairie View A&M.
 
Hixon earns All-SWAC laurels on special teams, ranking among the league's most dangerous returners with 488 kick return yards, including a 99-yard touchdown against Texas Southern. The Spanish Fort, Ala., native had 501 combined kick return yards, ranking third in the SWAC while taking SWAC Specialist of the Week one time.  His 30.5 yards per kick return ranked second in the SWAC and fifth in the FCS stats.
 
Wilemon provided reliability in all phases on special teams with no bad snaps on punting nd field goal units. The Hornets topped the SWAC and FCS with no blocked kicks or punts, allowing over 29 punts and 17 field goal attempts.
 
The Bama State offensive front that cleared the way for seven 200-yard rushing games, including three 300-yard games against Bethune-Cookman (388), Jackson State (349 and Alabama A&M (303). In addition, the Hornets' offensive front paved the way for seven individual 100-yard rushing games. The Hornets averaged 6.2 yards per rush with 33 rushing TDs. The 10 sacks are the second fewest in the SWAC. The Hornets have protected for seven 200-plus yard passing games, including one 400-yard game (Tuskegee), and three 300-yard games against UAB (312), Jackson State (349), and Alabama A&M (313).
