MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State University baseball drop the first game of a three game series to Western Illinois, 12-1 on Saturday at the Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex.
Junior Esaid Pena (0-2) got the ball to start for Alabama State (4-6) and took the loss.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 3-0, the Hornets first put runs on the board in the sixth inning. Alabama State got an RBI single from sophomore Juan Cruz, scoring junior Kelvin Agosto from third base. The Hornets were unable to get any closer, as Western Illinois added nine runs to their tally on the way to a 12-1 final.
GAME NOTES
» Kelvin Agosto went 2-for-4 with a double
» Parmentier went 1-for-2 with a triple.
» Western Illinois was led offensively by junior Tyler Large, who went 3-for-4 with a double, two triples and two RBI.
» Junior Max Tripure led the Leathernecks pitching staff, throwing 6.2 innings of one-run ball.
