JACKSONVILLE, Ala. | Jacksonville State Univiersty softball blanked vistiing Alabama State16-0 on Wednesday at Jana McGinnis Field.
Freshman Kaitlyn Hill (0-8) started and took the loss in the circle for Alabama State (15-7). Sophomore Kohana Pouson was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going one shutout inning without allowing a hit, walking none and striking out two.
Jaliyah Holmes and Jordan Eslinger combined to toss a four-hit shutout with eight strikeouts for Jacksonville State in the circle
At the plate, the Hornets were paced by junior Brooke Ramsey, who went 1-for-3 on the day.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Alabama State managed zero chances with runners on third in the shutout, going a total of 1-for-2 with runners in scoring position. The Hornets last got a runner on third in the third, when freshman Meshayla Pettaway made it 60 feet away from scoring with two outs.
