BIRMINGHAM, Ala. |  Alabama State University Wilbert Espoinal was seelcted the Southwestern Athletic Conference's Baseball Newcomer of the Week on Tuesday. 

Espinal hit .389 with six RBI to help Alabama State go 2-2 on the week. He hit .384 with five RBI in the MVSU series win. Espinal's RBI single in the bottom of the ninth gave ASU a 6-5 walkoff win over South Alabama earlier in the week. The Marietta, Ga., native went 3-for-5 with four RBI in ASU's 12-9 win to clinch the MVSU series.
