MONTGOMERY, Ala.| Ayana Franks notched two hits as Alabama State University softball fell to Troy University 4-0 on Wednesday at the Barbara Williams Softball Complex.
Sophomore Kohana Pouson (6-10) started and took the loss in the circle for Alabama State (11-27). Pousson gave up four runs on 10 hits with two strikeouts over 7.0 innings.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Alabama State managed one chance with runners on third in the shutout, going a total of 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position. The Hornets last got a runner on third in the fifth, when sophomore Mickey Coslor made it 60 feet away from scoring with one out.
GAME NOTES
» Alabama State pitchers faced 30 Troy hitters in the game, allowing four ground balls and 12 fly balls while striking out two.
» Freshman Ayana Frank led the Hornets at the plate, going 2-for-3.
» Troy was led offensively by sophomore Makaley Boswell, who went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run and an RBI.
» Faircloth led the Trojans pitching staff, throwing five shutout innings.
Alabama State opens a three game conference sereis against rival Jackson State on Friday at 5 p.m. at the Barbara Williams Softball Complex.
