Alabama State Baseball Sweeps Series From Alcorn State on Senior Night

MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State University Basebaall (26–27, 18–9 SWAC) (erupted for 10 runs in the fourth inning en route to a 17–3 win orun rule win over Alcorn State University on Satuday at the Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex.

Alabama State set the tone early, scoring twice in the first inning and adding another in the second on a solo home run by Isaiah Landry—his first of the season. The offense truly exploded in the bottom of the fourth when nine batters reached base before an out was recorded. Key moments included Quentin Jenkins' two-run home run (his second of the year), Kyler McIntosh's two-RBI double, and multiple RBI singles from Fabian Santana and Alex Espaillat.

Espaillat led the way offensively, going 3-for-3 with four RBIs while Wilbert Espinal scored four times and added an RBI double. Kameron Douglas contributed two hits, including an RBI double, and Landry tallied two RBI and reached base three times.

On the mound, four Hornet pitchers combined to limit Alcorn State (6–40, 1–26 SWAC) to six hits. Trey Power (3-3) earned the win in relief, tossing two innings of one-run ball after starter Esaid Pena exited after three innings. Jafet Martinez and Will Larson closed out the final two frames scoreless.

Defensively, Alabama State turned two double plays and overcame a single error. Alcorn State's offense was led by Gavin Caston, whose two-RBI single in the third momentarily cut the deficit to 6–2, but the Braves' pitching faltered. Starter Jermel Ford (0–11) took the loss, surrendering six runs (four earned) over three innings, while the bullpen allowed 11 more runs across three innings.

Alabama State closes the regular season with a three-game SWAC series at Prairie View A&M starting on Friday.
