BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Alabama State University claimed the Southwestern Athletic Conference Academic Achievement Award while also leading the league with the highest percentage of student-athletes with a 3.0 GPA or higher.
This is the sixth consecutive SWAC Academic Acheivement Award for Alabama State and the fourth straight under the guidance of Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics

Alabama State (74 percent) claimed the All-Academic Achievement Award which is presented annually to the athletic program that has the highest percentage of student-athletes that earned a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better during the academic year. Arkansas Pine-Bluff (71 percent) finished second, while Alcorn State (65 percent) finished in third place overall.
Alabama State had 243 student-athletes listed on the SWAC Commissioner's Honor Roll, which is comprised of student-athletes with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher during the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 semesters.
The SWAC Academic Success Award is an award based upon each member institutions collective ranking in the categories of highest four-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) average, highest single year APR average, and highest Graduate Success Rate (GSR).
