Bama State Picked Third in SWAC East

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Alabama State University football team has been picked to finish third in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) East Division by a vote of the conference's head coaches and sports information directors.

The Hornets picked up a total of 91 points, which was the fourth most points among all the SWAC teams, and also picked up two first-place votes. Jackson State tallied a conference-high 126 points to lead the East, followed by Florida A&M with 99 points. Alabama A&M was picked to finish behind the Hornets with Bethune-Cookman and Mississippi Valley State rounding out the East Division voting.

Southern picked up 120 points and 17 first-place votes to lead the West Division voting, followed by Alcorn State, Praiirie View A&M, Texas Southern, Grambling State and Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
