MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State University officially kicked off the road to opening day with a two-and-a-half-hour practice at the Houston Markham Complex on Tuesday morning.

The Hornets welcomed approximately 105 players on Monday going through team administrative meetings and move in day.

Tuesday's practice was the first of two practices in shorts and helmets as part of the NCAA acclamation period with shorts, shoulder pads and helmets being added on day three.

The Hornets spent the day working primarily through individual drills, implementing their base offense and defense with a couple of special team periods.

Alabama State returns to the practice field for day two in shorts Wednesday at 9:10 am.
