MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Alabama State University's Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is proud to announce the release of its bold new strategic plan entitled
"Strategic Dominance", a comprehensive roadmap designed to elevate Hornet Athletics to unprecedented heights of performance, integrity, and excellence.

Dr. Jason Cable, Vice President and Director of Athletics, the plan reflects a clear commitment to positioning Alabama State University (ASU) as a leader in athletic and academic achievement both within the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) and on the national stage.

It defines who we are, how we operate, and where we're going as a department. It ensures that every student-athlete, coach, and staff member is aligned with our core values and focused on sustainable success."

The strategic plan is anchored in four guiding values that set the foundation for the department's culture:

Strategic Priorities: Building for the Future
The "Strategic Dominance" plan is structured around five strategic priorities. We are planting S.E.E.D.S.—intentional actions today that will cultivate roots of growth, excellence, and dominance tomorrow that will drive ASU Athletics forward over the next five years:
- Service –Foster meaningful, responsive engagement with students, alumni, fans and the broader community.
- Excellence – Cultivate competitive teams that perform at the highest levels on the field, in the classroom, and in life.
- Experience – Prioritize well-being, inclusion, and leadership opportunities across all interactions.
- Development – Expand access to resources and infrastructure that empower excellence.
- Sustainability –Ensure long-term financial health, operational efficiency and strategic adaptability.

This strategic plan is in direct alignment with the institution's FOCUS 2030 Strategic plan and reinforces ASU Athletics' role as a vital part of the university's mission to educate, empower, and inspire. With an eye toward both competitive success and the holistic development of student-athletes, "Strategic Dominance" sets a clear course for future growth.
