Montgomery, Ala. -- Alabama State women's soccer fell 2-0 to Jackson State on Sunday afternoon at the ASU Soccer Complex in Montgomery. Despite outshooting the Lady Tigers 14-12, the Lady Hornets were unable to find the back of the net.
Jackson State struck early scoring in the 5th minute, giving the visitors a 1-0 lead. The score held that way until the 54th minute when the Tigers scored their second and the match's final goal of the day.
The Lady Hornets created several chances, led by McKinley Hacker with four shots, including two on goal. Jordan Williams, Savannah Singleton, and Serenity Safeeullah also pressured the Jackson State defense, but the JSU goalkeeper recorded four saves to preserve the shutout.
ASU goalkeeper Kailyn Roselli finished with three saves while playing the full 90 minutes. Both teams finished level in possession (50-50) and corner kicks (4-4), but Jackson State's efficiency in the final third proved decisive.
The Hornets are back on the road to face Alcorn State on Sunday, Oct. 5, at 1 p.m.
