NORMAN, Okla. --Alabama State University softball fell to Sam Houston State 6-0 on Friday at Love's Field
Junior Kohana Pousson (3-4) got the ball to start for Alabama State (6-13) and took the loss.
Tiffany Sanchez and Kendall Daniel combined to scatter five hits in the shutout for Sam Houston.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Alabama State did not advance a runner past second base in the game. The Hornets went 1-for-5 with runners in scoring position, last placing a runner as far as second in the seventh, when senior Alana Scott made it into scoring position with two outs.
GAME NOTES
» Alabama State pitchers faced 29 Sam Houston hitters in the game, allowing three ground balls and 12 fly balls while striking out three.
» Sophomore Bailee Williams led the Hornets at the plate, going 2 for 2.
» Sam Houston was led offensively by junior Bella Perez, who went 2 for 3 with a double, a home run and two RBI.
» Sanchez led the Bearkats pitching staff, throwing five scoreless innings.
