Cook Racks Up Four RBI in Alabama State's loss to No. 5 Oklahoma

NORMAN, Okla. | Freshman Braylin Cook racked up four RBI, but the Alabama State University softball fell to the No. 5 Oklahoma Sooners 29-6 on Saturday.

Sophomore Mason Quinnie (1-4) started and took the loss in the circle for Alabama State (6-16).

Cook went 1-for-3 with a grand slam home run for the Hornets. Junior Arianna Cox-Cole furnished a noteworthy performance at the dish as well, going 1-for-2 with a home run and an RBI. Jaibriel Terrell also contributed for Alabama State, putting together two hits in three trips to the plate while adding a double.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Hornets got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with four runs in the top of the first inning. Alabama State got a grand slam from Cook off of senior Kierston Deal, scoring all four of their runs in the inning.

The Hornets lost the lead they built in the first, but got back on the board in the third trailing 6-4. Alabama State picked up a run on Cox-Cole's leadoff home run off of Deal, which tightened the Sooners lead to 6-5.

Oklahoma built their lead to 29-5 before the Alabama State offense got going, reducing that lead to 29-6 in the fifth. The ballgame ended with that fifth inning rally falling short.
