Alabama State Softball Drops Twinbill To Bethune-Cookman

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. | Alabama State dropped a SWAC doubleheader to Bethune-Cookman.falling 8-2 in game one and 14-13 in 12 innings in the nightcap on Saturday. 

GAME 1 | Bethune-Cookman 8, Alabama State 2

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. | The Alabama State University softball team had a tough showing on Saturday, falling to the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats by final score of 8-2.

Kaitlyn Hill (0-6) started and took the loss in the circle for Alabama State (9-19, 3-2).

HOW IT HAPPENED

Trailing 2-0, the Hornets first put runs on the board in the second inning. Alabama State got an RBI single from Jordyn Ferrandino, scoring Jayla Stewart from third base.

The Hornets kept the deficit at 2-1 before tying the score in the third. Jaibriel Terrell came across to score the lone run of the inning for Alabama State, which brought the score level at 2-2. Bethune-Cookman then scored six times over the remaining four innings to break the tie and grab the 8-2 win.

DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. | The Alabama State Hornets lost an instant classic 14-13 in 12 innings to the Bethune-Cookman in game two of a doubleheader on Saturday.

Mason Quinnie (2-5) came out of the bullpen for Alabama State (9-20, 3-3) and took the loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Hornets lost despite scoring in six different innings in the ballgame, last holding the lead in the twelfth inning at 13-11. Alabama State's biggest output came in its five-run fifth inning. The big hit for the Hornets in the inning was a one-run fly out off the bat of Bailee Williams.
