Ramsey and Sims Lead Alabama State's 10-4 win against West Georgia

MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Talee Sims and Brooke Ramsey each collected three RBI to help power the Alabama State Hornets past the West Georgia Wolves 10-4 on Tuesday.

Kohana Pousson (8-5) started in the circle and picked up the win for Alabama State (17-27). The right-hander went seven innings, giving up one run on six hits, allowing no walks and striking out two.

Ramsey went 2-for-3 at the plate with a double, a home run and a walk in addition to her three RBI and Sims put together a 1-for-2 day with a home run and two walks, supplementing her three RBI performance for the Hornets. Ayana Frank compiled a noteworthy day at the plate as well, going 1-for-3 with two RBIs.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Hornets got on the scoreboard first, starting in the second inning. Ramsey came across to score the lone run of the inning for Alabama State and get them on the board.

The Hornets then held the Wolves scoreless before getting back on the board the very next inning. Alabama State managed to push across two runs in the inning, which brought the score to 3-0 in favor of the Hornets.

Alabama State's lead had disappeared once the fifth inning arrived and turned into a 4-3 West Georgia advantage when the Hornets re-took control at 6-4. The Hornets scored three times, with an output that included home runs from both Ramsey and Sims.

Alabama State kept the Wolves scoreless before their offense got things moving the next inning. The Hornets scored four runs in the inning, highlighted by a two-run double off the bat of Ramsey, bringing the score to 10-4 in favor of Alabama State. The score remained 10-4 for the rest of the game, as the Hornets coasted to the win.
