MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State University's athletics department honored graduating student-athletes during the Spring Student-Athletes Brunch on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, in the ballroom of the J. Garrick Hardy Student Center.
The event recognized student-athletes who will graduate May 8 and began with welcoming remarks from senior associate athletic director
Shyandrea Glass, followed by an invocation from Pastor Jonathon Givens.

Dr. Jason Cable delivered introductory remarks before Alabama State University's 15th president, Dr. Quinton T. Ross Jr., addressed attendees.
A special graduation ceremony was held for student-athletes who will be unable to attend the university's May 8 commencement because they will be competing for Southwestern Athletic Conference championships.
Those recognized included softball player Brooke Ramsey, who is earning a degree in history and secondary education; track athlete DeMarco Thompson II, who is earning a degree in marketing; track athlete Jon Coutler, who is earning a degree in computer information systems; and track athlete James Jackson, who is earning a degree in accounting.
All graduating student-athletes received stoles emblazoned with the words "Student Athlete" and posed for group photos at the conclusion of the event.
