MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State University Athletics continued its commitment to academic excellence, as reflected in the NCAA's 2024–25 Academic Progress Rate (APR) Institutional Report released May 7, 2026.
During the 2024–25 academic year, eight programs recorded a perfect single-year APR score of 1,000, highlighting sustained academic success among ASU student-athletes. The teams earning perfect single-year scores were Men's Basketball, Men's Cross Country, Men's Track and Field, Women's Cross Country, Women's Golf, Women's Softball, Women's Soccer, and Women's Tennis.
The APR is an NCAA metric that tracks the retention and eligibility of student-athletes, serving as a key indicator of academic performance and progress toward graduation.
In addition to multiple perfect scores, several Alabama State teams distinguished themselves as leaders within the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC):
- Men's Basketball posted a multi-year APR of 978, the highest in the SWAC for the sport.
- Women's Cross Country recorded a perfect multi-year APR of 1,000, leading the conference.
- Women's Soccer earned a multi-year APR of 986, also tops in the SWAC.

The NCAA's 2024–25 APR report is based on academic data submitted over a four-year period (2021–22 through 2024–25) and evaluates both single-year and multi-year performance metrics for Division I programs.
