2013: (GP/GS: 12/12) Stepped into starting position at middle linebacker and started all 12 games there… was named the SWAC Newcomer-of-the-Year along with receiving First-Team All-SWAC honors…named the College Sports Madness SWAC Freshman-of-the-Year as well as being named to their All-SWAC First-Team…named to the Boxtorow All-America Team and to the College Sports Journal FCS Freshman All-America Second-Team…finished the season with 105 total tackles (second in the SWAC)…had 12.5 tackles behind the line of scrimmage (-82) and had seven sacks (-65)…also intercepted a pass, recovered two fumbles had three pass break ups and three quarterback hurries…had three 10+ tackle games…made season-high 15 stops at Arkansas-Pine Bluff (9/14)…had 13 stops against Alcorn State (9/28) and recorded 12 against Southern (11/9)…
