Trei Mitchell begins his first year at Alabama State as the associate head strength and conditioning coach, joining the staff October 2020.
He will be responsible for working with the interior linemen on football, and working with baseball, softball, men’s golf and women’s golf at the university.
Mitchell came to Alabama State from Southern Miss, where he spent two years as a graduate assistant on the strength and conditioning staff. He worked with baseball, softball, men’s golf, and assistant with the football program while in Hattiesburg.
Prior to Southern Miss, he had brief stints at LSU in 2018 as a strength and conditioning assistant, working with several teams. He worked with men’s basketball, women’s basketball, men’s golf, men’s tennis, women’s tennis and softball. Prior to LSU, Mitchell worked at Kent State as an assistant sports performance coach with football.
Mitchell also worked at Webber International as an assistant coach in strength and conditioning with the men’s and women’s bowling teams. He also directed the football development and assisted with baseball and track and field.
He graduated from Alabama State in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in physical education, while also being a four-year starter for the Hornets. Mitchell spent time in the Arena Football League with the Columbus Lions, and also a short stint with the Panasonic Impulse in the Japan X-League.
Mitchell is a certified Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coach (SCCC) and functional movement screening, USA Weightlifting, and is CPR/AED certified.
