Don Nelson enters his second season on the Alabama State University football staff under Coach Eddie Robinson, Jr. Nelson was elevated to offensive line coach in the spring of 2023.
Before coming to Alabama State in 2022, Nelson spent four seasons at Morehouse College as the offensive line coach and recruiting coordinator, while also serving as the run game coordinator. He was responsible for recruiting the state of Texas, southern California and Kansas Junior Colleges.
During the 2019 season, Nelson was able to spend time with the Jacksonville Jaguars coaching the offensive line and breaking down film as part of a Bill Walsh Internship.
Prior to his time at Morehouse, he spent 2016 through 2018 at Midwestern State as the running backs coach. During that stint he recruited central Texas and College Station. He also spent two years at Langston as the running backs and assistant run game coordinator. Nelson also has time at Pasadena City College (running backs/slot receivers), Occidental College (running backs), and Tabor (assistant offensive line/tight ends).
