Sam Lazarus, a graduate of Alabama State, returns to his alma mater to assist with Player Development for the Hornets. Prior to coming on staff with football, Lazarus served last year as a Recruitment Specialist and District Recruiter for the Academic Affairs/Enrollment Management Office at Alabama State.
He begins his third year with the Alabama State football program this fall.

While there, he helped to analyze and provide insights into customer behavior throughout the student life cycle and/or in response to marking initiatives. He also assisted in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to new, continuous, transfer students.

Prior to his time in that office, he also served a one year coaching internship with the Alabama State basketball team where he assisted in player/team marketing . He also assisted in scouting and coordination of team practice, while also handling game day coverage.

A native of Nigeria, Lazarus received his Nautical Science Certificate from the Regional Martime University (Accra, Ghana). He received his Bachelor of Science in Physical Education with an emphasis on coaching in May 2017.
