Julia Henig will enter her eighth season working with the Lady Hornets volleyball program for the 2020-2021 academic year.
In her seven seasons on the bench as an assistant volunteer, Henig has helped the Lady Hornets to a 158-110 record, six consecutive conference championship appearances and five conference championships.
Henig, whose maiden name is Sitarz, brings plenty of experience to ASU as a four-year starter at the University of Mississippi (1993-96).
She played for coach John Blair and finished her career with 1,357 kills and 1,169 digs (one of only six players in program history to reach the 1,000/1,000 club), finishing her career third in school history in both categories. She also had 162 blocks and 120 service aces over the course of her career.
She earned several honors at Ole Miss including being named All-SEC, Academic All-SEC, SEC Player of the Week several times and was also named to many All-Tournament teams and MVP selections.
The highlight of her career was against Florida when she recorded 30 kills on 56 attempts and hit .339.
Following her career at Ole Miss, she played on the women’s Birmingham Area Volleyball Association club team which won the Southern Region tournament and took first place in the A Division at the USA Nationals in Minneapolis, Minn., where she was named All-Tournament.
She has coached the 18-1 Alabama Juniors Club Volleyball team in Birmingham for three years seeing several of her players earn athletic scholarships.
She is an active member of the Montgomery community and has been employed by Baptist Health since 2004 serving as System Vice President of Business Development.
