Alabama State Bowling Opens Season at Bossier City Classic

SHREVEPORT, La. – Pennsylvania freshman Jackie Longo gave a top-notch performance, garnishing a total pinfall of 711 to give Alabama State a 3-5 overall record during the Bossier City Classic this past weekend.

“Jackie brings fire to the team,” said Head Bowling Coach Andrew Chatman.  “When she bowls, she bowls with passion!  The other young ladies seem to pick up their game when Jackie gets hot.”

Alabama State swept Southwestern Athletic Conference teams 3-1, only losing to Grambling by 53 pins in the total pinfall match.  The non-conference matches ASU lost were by less than 20 pins.  The losses were to Stephen F. Austin and Louisiana Tech, both in pinfall and Baker matches.

“Last season, we didn't finish games,” said Chatman.  “This year, we seem to finish games and don't just lie down and let go.  I am really excited about this bowling season.”

Sophomore Paige Roquemore and senior Dominque Elston were two other Lady Hornets who had peak performances.  Roquemore had a 623 in total pinfall and Elston scored a 621.

The next action for Alabama State will be Oct. 23-25 at the Deep South Open in Winston Salem, N.C.
