Hornets Host AUM Saturday in Cross Town Battle

ASU and AUM tipoff at 7 pm Saturday
MONTGOMERY, Ala. – After playing five consecutive road games, the Alabama State University men's basketball team returns home to face cross-town rival AUM Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Acadome.

The Hornets (1-7) have not played at home since defeating Columbus State on Nov. 24. ASU played seven of its first eight games this season on the road.

Senior Menji Mundadi leads the Hornets in scoring at 13.3 points per game. Mundadi has been hot from long distance lately connecting in 10 treys in the last two games including a 6-for-9 performance at Southern Illinois. He has also scored 20-plus points in each of the last two outings. Fellow senior Tramayne Moorer is averaging 9.9 points and tops the squad with 5.4 rebounds per game.

AUM (6-4) has won four straight heading into Saturday's tilt including a 76-66 victory over University of Mobile on Dec. 12.

The Hornets and Senators will be meeting for the 28th time on Saturday with ASU holding a 22-5 advantage in the all-time series. Bama State has won six straight over AUM including a 73-64 victory last season in the Acadome.

Following Saturday's contest, Alabama State closes out the 2009 calendar with a game Tuesday at Auburn and a home meeting with West Alabama Dec. 28.
