The Lady Hornets volleyball team swept the Alcorn State Lady Braves 3-0 Tuesday night in a Southwestern Athletic match 25-20, 25-15, and 25-14. Alabama State improves to 12-18 and 3-2 in conference play.
“The girls played well tonight all though we had a mishap in the first set,” said Head Coach
Penny Lucas-White. “After the first set we were able to pull ourselves together and get the win.”
Alabama State was led by four-time newcomer of the week
Maya Bell with a match-high 20 kills. Senior
Ana Pego handed out 36 assists in the match, while freshman
Erika Thompson had eight kills and
Asia Manning had seven to assist in the win over Alcorn State.
The Lady Hornets will return to action for senior night against Alcorn State, next Tuesday Nov. 1 at 6 p.m. in Lockhart Gym.
