ASU falls in a thriller to SU 3-2
Montgomery, Ala. - The Alabama State University Soccer team falls to Southern 3-2 on Friday night at Hornets Stadium.
SU's Jazmine Harrell scored the first goal of the game off an assist by Britney Lewis in the 7
th minute. In the 9
th minute of the contest Alexa Miles scored a goal for Southern assisted by Kendra Monroe.
In the second half of the match, Harrell added another goal for Southern (3-0), which would end up being the difference maker of the contest.

Melissa Douglas added another goal for ASU in the 78
th minute to bring the score within one (3-2), but it wouldn't be enough to steal the game back from SU.
“Another tough one for us,” said Coach
Jodie Smith. “We start scoring goals in the second half, and finish the game making defensive mistakes.”
The loss pushed ASU back to 1-11 on the season. Southern improved to 2-6. The Lady Hornets were outshot 20-8 in the contest.

Kylee Hathaway had 11 saves on the evening.
“The defending conference champs will come ready to play on Sunday,” said Coach Smith. By the look at the scores around the conference, everyone has been winning only by a small margin of one, so we have to find ways to score.”
Alabama State is set to host Jackson State in its Southwestern Athletic Conference Divisional play on Sunday, October 9 at 1 p.m.
