MONTGOMERY—Alabama State University's volleyball team is looking to build some momentum as they head into the final three weeks of the season and that begins with a road game at Savannah State University on Sunday, Oct. 21 at 1 p.m. CT.
ASU (4-22) has played better the past month of the season, but the wins continue to be hard to come by. Even in the last four games which ASU has dropped, the scores have been close and ASU has even had the lead in most of the games only to lose late.
“One thing we are constantly working on has been our consistency at the end of games,” Head Coach
Penny Lucas-White said. “It has certainly been exciting to see the girls get on a roll, but it has been disappointing to see them lose their momentum and not be able to get it back.”
“We have led in almost every game in the past couple of weeks and we have not been able to close the games out. We could easily have several more wins than we have now.”
The game against Savannah State (0-25) will be the final non-conference game of the season for ASU and the Lady Hornets are looking to use this game as a spring board into the final five games of the season, all conference games.
“We still have a chance to finish well in our conference and make it into the conference tournament,” Lucas-White said. “If we could ever find the mental strength to go along with the consistency, we could make a run. We definitely have the talent to do it. The girls just have to believe in themselves.”
