MONTGOMERY—The Alabama State University volleyball team will hit the road for games against Alcorn State and at Mississippi Valley State, looking to better their position for the upcoming Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) volleyball tournament.
The Lady Hornets will face Alcorn Thursday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. and will face Mississippi Valley on Friday, Oct. 26 at 6 p.m. Thursday's contest at Alcorn will be shown live on SWAC TV.
These two games also represent the final regular season road games of the season.
“We are now starting the main part of our conference season,” Head Coach
Penny Lucas-White said. “We have only played three conference games so far and with our final five games all conference competition; we have a chance to move up in the standings.”
The Lady Hornets (5-22/1-2 SWAC) are coming off a 3-0 win at Savannah State this past Sunday and will be looking to build on their solid road performance.
“We did some different things on offense against Savannah State,” Lucas-White said. “We did a lot of good things, but we still had a lot of cleanup work to do in our practices this week. We are looking for continued improvement as we try to build some momentum heading into the conference tournament.”
Myla Marshall (.243) and
Amber Bennett (.234) continue to lead ASU in hitting percentage and are both ranked among the top 10 in the conference.
Brooke Beasley is averaging 8.00 assists per set and has 712 assists on the season.
Luiza Griz has 265 digs and is fourth in the conference at 2.94 per set.
