Soccer Hosts Alabama A&M in SWAC Opener

The Alabama State soccer team will host in-state rival and Eastern division foe Alabama A&M Friday, October 5 at the ASU Soccer Complex. The match is slated for 7 p.m.

“It's our first conference game, so we want to come out and set a tone for the second half of the season from the start,” head coach Jodie Smith said. “I think we've played pretty good toward the end of the preseason and hopefully, we will now continue to build momentum from that success.”

The Lady Hornets (3-5-2) completed their non-conference schedule on a rather high note for the first time in the history of the program. ASU set records with having the most points recorded by an individual, registering three goals and an assist in a contest, and recording the most assist by an individual player in a contest (3). The Alabama State soccer team also set a record by not taking a loss in its past four competitions.

ASU ended last year's regular season defeating A&M 1-0 in the final minutes of the contest to capture the final spot in the Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament.

The Lady Bulldogs enters Friday's contest 0-10 on the season.
