box score box score women MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Alabama State men's and women's teams both dropped their home opener (7-0) Friday to Jacksonville State at Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center in Montgomery, Ala.
 
“I think everyone looked more comfortable today,” ASU head coach Anuk Christiansz said. “Of course, we have a lot more work to do, but I think the guys are progressing. I would like to see a little bit more effort in doubles matches to improve more and it will give us more confidence going into our singles matchups. All-around, all six guys played well today.”
 
The Hornets will face Kennesaw State Sat. Feb. 10 at 8 a.m. and will take on intra-state rival Alabama A&M at 3:30 p.m.
 
“I think the most important thing for us now is to stay positive and not get down on ourselves,” said Christiansz. “I'm one of the most competitive people I know, and I love to win. I also know that it's a work in progress and we will get to that point soon to where we are winning on a consistent basis. I'm just looking for the kids to learn more and more each day and not give up.”
