COLUMBUS, Ga.- The Alabama State men's and women's tennis teams fell 7-0 to Mercer in Columbus, Ga. in their first match of the 2012 season.
“It's our first match and I feel we have a lot of work to do by the next game,” ASU head coach
Anuk Christiansz said. “We are going to get better as the season progresses, but I'm proud of what I seen from the guys today. They hustled, worked hard and gave great efforts out there today. It's a young season, so we have time to grow and get better time in and timeout.”
ASU will next host intra-state rival, Jacksonville State Friday, Feb. 10 at Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center in Montgomery, Ala. The match is slated for 1:30 p.m.
“Our goal today was to get the most out of every match,” said Christiansz. “We will practice hard next week and prepare for the next one on Friday.”
