Hornets Tennis Geared for Matchup with Jacksonville State

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Alabama State Men's tennis team is geared up for competition against intra state foe Jacksonville State Tuesday, March 6 at 1:30 p.m. in Jacksonville, Ala. at the JSU Tennis Complex.

“Well, this is the second time playing Jacksonville State, and I think we're going to play better against them this time around,” head coach Anuk Christiansz said. “We need to play more matches. It doesn't help us straggling for a week in a half. Jacksonville is a solid team and I like to play teams like that to help us get better.”

The Hornets (2-5) look for revenge after falling to the Gamecocks in their first meeting of the season, 7-0.

ASU has shown progress over its last few matches, beating in-conference rival Alabama A&M twice this season so far.

In singles competition, Bobby Brand, Lex Pierre, and Jonathan Freeman all have shown poise and fight in their game, winning some of their matches.

“We're looking for our seniors to step it up a little bit,” Christiansz said. “The guys can get better as long as they can get some consistency in their game.”
